Well what a day it was in the WordPress 2.5.1 upgrade realm. I just finished updating and committing my changes to the Gaboinked! Chipin Sidebar Widget for Wordpress, and happily noticed a new 2.5.1 upgrade package was available for WordPress. I took extreme care to upgrade the Gaboink! network blog, and everything seemed to go smoothly until poof! I saw a wp-admin blank screen when either trying to login or access the admin section directly.
I immediately search the WordPress forums and Google for a solution to no prevail, so I decided to delete every plugin to include my own to find the culprit and I did. I had the WP-SpamFree plugin installed and activated which for some reason has render itself not compatible with the 2.5.1 build of WordPress.
I did not take enough care apparently, because the upgrade directions clearly stated to deactivate any plugins, and I strongly recommend that this step not be ignored or skipped by any WordPress bloggers upgrading in the future.
If you are experiencing the same issue, I recommend starting at the plugin folder and finding the one that may not like the new changes to WordPress 2.5.1. Rest assured that the Gaboinked! Chipin Sidebar Widget for Wordpress is compatible.

Thanks so much! I was banging my head and looking everywhere with the blank page of frustration. For me it was also template specific. Best to you.
No problem Andrew. I too was quite frustrated and relieved to find out that it was as simple as an incompatible plugin that needed to be updated.
Fortunately the Author of WP-SpamFree has updated since, and I am able to use it once again without issue.
experienced d same problem.. found that the wp-config file I was using was for older version of wp..
OMG! Thank you so much! I apparently didn’t pay attention to deactivating the plug ins as well because my entire Wordpress was gone & when I moved the plug ins it was back. I was getting so frustrated & worried that I had lost everything!
Thanks!
I`ve seem to have the same issue but with version 2.6
Ramoonus,
I haven’t upgraded to WordPress 2.6 yet so I am affraid that I can’t share the same experience with the blank admin page yet. I will eventually get around to upgrading sooner or later and hope that it is not an issue for me. If so, I am sure I’ll be posting here again. I have installed a fresh WordPress 2.6 installation without any issues so far.
