Well what a day it was in the WordPress 2.5.1 upgrade realm. I just finished updating and committing my changes to the Gaboinked! Chipin Sidebar Widget for Wordpress, and happily noticed a new 2.5.1 upgrade package was available for WordPress. I took extreme care to upgrade the Gaboink! network blog, and everything seemed to go smoothly until poof! I saw a wp-admin blank screen when either trying to login or access the admin section directly.
I immediately search the WordPress forums and Google for a solution to no prevail, so I decided to delete every plugin to include my own to find the culprit and I did. I had the WP-SpamFree plugin installed and activated which for some reason has render itself not compatible with the 2.5.1 build of WordPress.
I did not take enough care apparently, because the upgrade directions clearly stated to deactivate any plugins, and I strongly recommend that this step not be ignored or skipped by any WordPress bloggers upgrading in the future.
If you are experiencing the same issue, I recommend starting at the plugin folder and finding the one that may not like the new changes to WordPress 2.5.1. Rest assured that the Gaboinked! Chipin Sidebar Widget for Wordpress is compatible.

The Gaboinked! Chipin SideBar Widget for WordPress
Until now, there was not a WordPressive solution to easily display a Chipin Widget in a WordPress Sidebar. As a WordPress blogger wishing to display a Chipin Widget in the Sidebar of your blog, you would need to hard-code your template with the widget code supplied by Chipin. The existing Chipin method for adding a Chipin Widget to a WordPress blog depends on the use of <embed></emded> tags within the post itself to display a Chipin Widget.
The Gaboinked! Chipin Sidebar Widget for WordPress blogs is my first WordPress 2.x sidebar widget that allows you to configure and display your Chipin Widget in your WordPress sidebar. It has been tested on WordPress version 2.5 and should work on any WordPress version 2.3 and above.
The Gaboinked! Chipin Sidebar Widget easily adds a Chipin Event Widget to your WordPress sidebar. This is a convenient way for visitors to donate funds to any cause or event you wish. The Gaboinked! Gaboined! Chipin WordPress Widget Installation
- Download the latest version of the Gaboinked! Chipin Sidebar Widget for WordPress.
- Extract the downloaded archive and place the folder and it’s contents in the wp-content/plugins folder of your WordPress installation.
- Navigate to your Plugins in your WordPress Adminstration and active the Gaboinked! Chipin Plugin
- Navigate to Design -> Widgets and add the Gaboinked! Chipin Widget to your choice of sidebar locations
- Create a Chipin Event, and customize a Chipin Widget to be used on a WordPress Blog.
- You will find the the Widget ID code within the text shown in the Chipin code window. It is withing the widget URL and It should look something like: src=”http://widget.chipin.com/widget/id/7c0d74df4aa9381f
- Continue customizing the rest of your Chipin Widget to suit your needs, and save your changes.
- You should now see your Chipin Widget displayed in your WordPress Sidebar.
